The Show Story:
I am Baraa Ali, Host of the Masters Of Change Show, where I discover and display the most successful, brilliant, unique and inspiring entrepreneurs through the creative interview process!
At the beginning of my personal voyage to become an entrepreneur, I sought inspiration from the well-known business icons such as Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Jack Welch and few more. These well-known entrepreneurs have inspired the likes of many people and like everyone else, I thought they were the smartest people on this planet! And because I wanted to become a business-savvy entrepreneur, I thought one would have to learn from the best and surely there wasn’t anyone better than these self-made millionaire entrepreneurs. I honestly thought that these were the cream of the crop and that no one else would do in the school of educating myself in the business way. After all, where else would you find anyone with equal knowledge and wisdom as well as the founding of successful businesses?
I researched them all thoroughly through their published books. My trips to the library allowed me to read up on them and their success, but there were many books with similar titles that had never leaped out before as nobody knew these people…They wrote myriads of books with mountains of paper speaking to business and success for other business ventures. They were wanna be moguls who were perhaps not so well known, but who had the gall to write about these topics that in my mind were only reserved for the well-known multi-millionaire venture capitalists like Buffett and Gates. I became somewhat indignant with my limited scope of knowledge and actually questioned myself with thoughts such as “how dare these people attempt to write about these topics reserved for the successful entrepreneurs in the same league as Warren Buffet.
In my arrogance and ignorance I actually thought “hah, who are these people and how dare they write about these topics!” I actually would say to myself “How can I compare these other people pushing their books on the subject of business along with the best!!” I thought their writings should not even occupy the same shelf in the library as there was such a class difference in my estimation.
A very unexpected thing happened however and my life was changed. During a family visit with my uncle, I was given a book and of all things; it was a book about the establishing of business. I respect my uncle and decided to look through the book but reserving judgement as he was not a Steve Jobs type. But something phenomenal happed and as I devoured the book’s contents page by page, I was totally hooked to a book that should have been “less than” as it did not have the name of Buffet or Gates upon it as its author. I had my “aha” moment and realized that other authors and experts are successful in their own right and at least as good or even better than the ones I assumed to be the best . I began to realize that they might not be on the same scale as the one I assumed to be the best but certainly they have been successful and I had to rejig my thinking.
My wrong assumption of billion dollar business being the only way to go had to follow the path of the dinosaur and die as I realized that entrepreneurs who are successful but did not create billion dollar companies but rather created something small which did it very well were in some ways even more successful. So began my voyage into referencing the many I lesser known authors and entrepreneurs who have great value to add to what I am working on accomplishing in life.
I realized how narrow minded I had been and had considered business and success from a very limited angle and point of view. I was someone embarrassed at how one-dimensional I had been as I consider myself a very well-rounded and reasonable individual.
Much has changed since the revelation of my lightbulb moment where my thinking was revolutionized. Take Warren Buffet and Steve Jobs for example. We all know that Warren Buffet is an expert in business, investing and finance but getting an interview let alone an in-person meeting with him is highly unlikely, so I had to figure out how to looks for the successful element in those who were closer at hand. With this new resolve and resolution, I decided to look into my community searching for people like Warren and others but who work on a smaller scale than the big names but have great and more so attainable hands-on value to add.
After my huge realization as to what “success” really is, I wanted to share this knowledge with others who like me are on a quest to establish a successful business. Local home-grown people as well as international business owners all have a wealth of information to share and I wanted to find a way to showcase them in the community because they are resourceful. The World Wide Web has made them accessible, marketable and in full view to everyone, no matter where they are living. Enter my decision to start an online radio show where these not so well known but extremely successful entrepreneurs will be showcased and thereby unleashing their creative resources through the interview process. Through interactive dialogue, they will share their stories, success, and failure and add value to the community and audience.
I am making it my mission to look for these people and get them to share their stories or secrets or tips they might have in avoiding pitfalls and attaining success. Many new ideas are born by dialogue, and we will be dialoguing with the best. The name might not evoke “oh I have heard of him,” but the lesser known entrepreneurs will become known within the scope of this podcast.
There are no limits to talent and creativity. Consider the America’s got talent show, one of the best programs on the planet in my estimation as it showcases the unusual entertainers and brings the atypical ones to the forefront It has been unleashing great talents that otherwise would have never have had the opportunity to share that special or odd talent with the world. I envision this program to be the America’s Got Talent program but for the entrepreneurs of the world who are not Warren Buffet or Bill Gates…
In my youth I never thought that failure could ever be a positive thing. But with maturity I began to see that failure only causes the ones with the will to succeed to keep going. It cements a resolve inside the beliefs of the person trying to market their idea or business. If you were asked point blank, “would you like to fail?” Most of us would respond that failing is for losers, but in reality failure only creates a stepping stone to move ahead in your trajectory. Failing is never sweet, and most of us would never plan to fail, but learning to minimize the effects of the failure to be able to pick yourself up and move on is the epitome of what success is. You have to forgive yourself and move forward when it happens. Pop television always presents the successful side of the interview, but how do you deal with plans that get derailed, money that runs out, partners that double-cross you…these things are part of the journey. Interviews with these entrepreneurs who can showcase the good and the bad of what they have survived will be inspiring as it will be rooted in truth and not simply in feel-good television mode. Let’s hear it for being real. With the Baraa Show, our guests will be transparent and open as they reveal their tried and true methods as well as the pitfalls they have encountered. It will be your guide to reduce your chances of failing. That is my promise to you!
The show’s mission is to inspire you and help you learn from these successful entrepreneurs and how they were able to make it. It is up live and personal where their wisdom will direct you toward the path of success.
